Maintenance Specialist
Reid Park Zoological Society is seeking a Maintenance Specialist. Minimum of three years maintenance experience in commercial environment preferred.

We provide educational and fun experiences for visitors of all ages. Reid Park Zoo is the largest attended cultural attraction in Southern Arizona with approximately 500,000 visitors annually. Overview:
TheMaintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining and repairing zoo equipment,exhibits, and other facilities. The successful candidate will have experienceworking in more than one area. Thismight include plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, roofing, fencingdepending on the needs of the zoo. ReportsTo: Maintenance Supervisor
General duties:
• Maintain and repair zoo equipment,exhibits, and other facilities.
• Provide feedback in the design, planning, andconstruction of new animal exhibits and other facilities.
•Safely operates and maintains hand tools and power tools, including, but notlimited to: chain saws, grinders, drills, circular saws, demo hammers, chopsaws, augers, etc.
•Safely operates golf carts, small utility vehicles, skid steers, loaders, andother wheeled equipment.
• Provides support for special events in evenings and weekends.
• Maintains maintenancelog books and enters data into computer spreadsheets.
• Assists Trade Specialists or Grounds Deptwhen required.
•Follows work order system. Checks withsupervisor if asked by other staff/ departments to deviate significantly fromscheduled work.
• Effectively communicates with to supervisors,staff, and visitors.
• Conducts preventive maintenance, servicesequipment to ensure reliability and safe operation.
•May install and maintain fences, signs, benches, railings, concrete, animalexhibits, water pumps and other fixtures and structures.
• Purchases materials and equipment afterconsultation with supervisor.
• Maintains an inventory of commonly usedmaterials.
• Reports safety concerns to supervisor. Undertakes safety training and follows safework practices.
• Creates completion schedules and materiallists for assigned projects before initiating construction.
•Other duties as assigned.
PreferredQualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience ina commercial environment.
Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
Ability to safely operate wheeled equipmentsuch as skid steer, forklift, truck, utility vehicles etc.
Ability and willingness to follow safety requirements.
Strong interpersonal and communicationskills.
Politely assertive, energetic, and able tosucceed in fast-paced environment.
Ability to take direction and quickly changeas needed.
Reliable and able to work to a varied schedule,including weekends and infrequently, evenings and holidays.
Regular physical attendance at work.
Comfortable working in extreme weatherconditions for long periods of time.
Able to bend, pull, lift and carry up to 50pounds.
Able to walk and stand up to 8 hours daily.
THE HIRING RANGE IS $18.25 - $21.44 HOURLY.
