Trade Specialist - Electrical/ HVAC - Full Time

Reid Park Zoological Society is seeking a Trade Specialist – Electrical/ HVAC.  At least two years related work experience are required.

 The Society is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to create inspiring memories for all by connecting people and animals to ensure the protection of wild animals and wild places.  We provide educational and fun experiences for visitors of all ages. Reports To:   Maintenance Supervisor

 Responsibilities:

  • General duties:

 Responsible for completion of work orders for tasks related to electrical/ HVAC maintenance and repairs of assigned equipment/ buildings utilizing work order related software programs.

  • Responsible for implementing routine physical improvements.
  • Respond to emergency situations in accordance with department protocols.
  • Assist Supervisor in establishing & maintaining all equipment, tools, supplies in stock, inventories and logs.
  • Assist with controlling expenses associated with the operation of buildings.
  • Communicate effectively to appropriate building status and changes.
  • Adhere to all safety standards, policies and procedures, codes of conduct and best practices.
  • Act in a courteous manner at all times with guests, Zoo Keepers, co-workers, vendors etc.
  • Utilize materials, supplies, tools and other building property in a safe and productive manner.
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
  • Participate in safety training, safety drills and wear supplied PPE.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years related work experience.
  • Driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to understand and interpret design documents, manufacturer’s specifications and written operational procedures.
  • Basic aptitude for mathematics.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn job-related software and complete computer-based training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to take direction, follow instructions and be quick to act or change direction as needed.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
  • Safety conscious with ability to complete OSHA 10-hour safety training online.
  • Reliable and able to work to a schedule.
  • Regular physical attendance at work. 
  • Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Employee should be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50+ lbs. on occasion).
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.  Capable of climbing ladders, stairs and extensive walking.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule and adjust as required. Weekend, special event and some holiday work are required.
  • Willingness to take a turn as part of on-call rotation.  Available for emergencies as needed.

THE HIRING RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS $18.25 - $21.44 HOURLY.
